Software Development
What you will learn in 6 months:
Build responsive websites and simple full-stack applications.
Understand the software development life cycle and version control.
Work collaboratively on a team software project.
Deploy real-world apps to the web.
Prepare for junior developer roles, internships, or freelance work.
Fashion Design
Accurately take body measurements and draft patterns.
Operate both manual and electric sewing machines proficiently.
Design and construct various outfits from start to finish.
Create their own fashion sketches and client styles.
Be prepared to launch their own tailoring business or work with fashion houses.
Catering and Event Planning
This track will empower you in 6 months to:
Prepare a variety of local and international dishes and pastries.
Plan and manage small to medium-scale events
Apply food safety and hygiene best practices
Create menus, budget plans, and event logistics checklists
Be prepared to launch and manage your own small catering or event planning business.
General Eligibility Requirement
You are a citizen of Nigeria and resident in the country.
Be between 16–26 years old at the time of application.
Must be from a low-income family with annual income of less than 3 million naira.
Must have completed at least Primary 5 and possess a certificate of completion. Applicants should not be enrolled or have completed any tertiary education (i.e OND, HND or bachelor degree).
Must demonstrate a genuine interest in learning a specific skill (evidence of past effort or self-learning is a plus).
Must be willing to fully commit a minimum of 40 hours weekly to the training, complete all tasks and projects, and adhere to the rules and regulations of the program.
Children of Christian missionaries who are serving in Nigeria are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are only open for states where Empowered by LONG has training partnerships per cohort.
To apply to the software development track you must also:
Demonstrate basic computer literacy (i.e how to operate a computer and use the internet).
Be proficiency in microsoft word and powerpoint
Must possess problem-solving interest and aptitude which will be assessed through a short online aptitude test.
Show passion for technology (will be assessed via personal statement, prior exposure, or self-taught efforts like tutorials and mini-projects reported through the online application form).20

You are aged 16–26 years at the time of application
You have secured admission into an accredited Nigerian university
As a continuing students you have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of second class upper i.e, 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 or its equivalent.
As a new student you present proof of admission, which includes a signed admission and acceptance letter, a copy of WAEC results with a minimum of 5 credits, and copy of JAMB result with a minimum score of 200.
You are and you are able to provide evidence of financial need through your parent's bank statements, or a recommendation from your school's bursar, another registered scholarship giving organization you've benefited from or a member of our serving Board of Trustees.
You demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement

To apply to the catering/event planning track you must also:
Be aged between 10–19 years
Must be a citizen of Nigeria and enrolled in junior or senior secondary school (JSS1 to SS3) in Nigeria
Must demonstrate outstanding academic performance (top 20% of class preferred).
Senior secondary applicants must record at least 5 credits in the compulsory courses in their chosen academic area (e.g., sciences, art, technical, or commercial) in the SS1 first term examination.
Must provide recent school report cards and a recommendation from two school teachers or administrators.
Must commit to completing their secondary education
Evidence of financial hardship required (e.g., lack of parental support, parents’ bank account statement)
